According to our records this is your very first submission to a WebRing Ring. This email contains some information and tips for first time members. We hope you find this helpful and that your experience with WebRing is a long and satisfying one!
Your Site information is:
Site Title: Tropikal Productions
Site URL: http://www.tropikalproductions.com
WebRing User ID: jimbe
Site ID: 12
Keep this information handy in case you ever need to provide it to your RingMaster or support in the event you have a question.
What do I do now?
The RingMaster of the Ring you just applied to is going review your web site and take action to either accept you into the Ring or not. You're welcome to join other Rings or forums in the meantime, but FIRST you should add the navigation code to your page.
WHAT is navigation code and why do I need to add it to my page?
As a first time user you may not know much about this. Not to worry. "Navigation Code" is what allows visitors to travel from Site to Site in a Ring. To be a part of the Ring you'll have to place navigation code on your web site as well. The good news is that you generally only have to do this ONCE regardless of how many Rings you join. That's because WebRing keeps track of all the Rings you've joined using any given URL (web site), and keeps track of what to display on thepage for you. All you have to do is place it once and the rest is doen for you!
So where do I GET this "code" and where do I "place" it?
Well, may we suggest that first you browse around for a few minutes looking at some example and tutorial sites before you get started on your own? It won't take long and may save you time and grief trying to get your Site active. Surf this Ring completely (It's only four Sites, so it will only take a few minutes!):
Now that you've visited the Ring, and reviewed any instructions from your RingMaster (from their join instructions if any) you are ready to get the navigation code and place it on YOUR page. Here's the link to the page where you can get the code for your site:
Paste that code onto the page you just registered, save the page, and then TEST to see if the code is on there properly.
HOW do I "paste" the code onto my page?
You want to add the code as HTML. That is, not as text. Some editors are easy to use, others require some, usually simple, procedure for adding HTML to a page rather than text. If you wonder about this AT ALL, we suggest you visit this site to see if your web site hosting service is listed. If so, go to the page and review the instructions posted there. Someone has made sure those procedures all work:
OK, it's pasted and saved. What is this "TEST" business?
Adding your code to your website is the first step, but once it is there you want to be sure it's correct, and also be sure that your RingMaster KNOWS that it's correct. So you want to use the WebRing system checker to varify your code for you. It will check and then save the results where you and the RingMaster can see them.
You can do that here (you must be logged in, you'll see a TEST link. Try it):
This second link is called the Navigation Code Wizard, and gives a detailed explanation of the status of your site. You can access it later from your site management screen(s) as well.
If you're still stuck you can probably get answers at the help forum:
Here you should find useful instructions on how to figure out what went wrong. If all that fails, of course, be sure to contact support using the help/support link at the top of the page.
MY code's in place and it PASSes, so now what?
Well, until the RingMaster has had a chance to review and approve your site the navigation code you just placed will show a "pending navlet". It isn't the complete navigation code, but don't worry. It will be replaced once the RingMaster reviews and approves your site.
The RingMaster *should* review your site within a few days. Sometimes sooner. If they have not contacted your or reviewed your Site submission with a week you should contact them in case they simply forgot. If you log in to your account and go to this URL:
Then you can use the Contact RingMaster link to send them an email (if you do, be sure to include your User ID, site ID, and site URL to assist them). That should get some action within a couple of days. If you hear nothing after a few days, or if the email bounces, then contact support. WE WILL help you as quickly as possible. A positive experience for you is important to us!
